Gnossiennes 1-7

It is my belief that Erik Satie was instrumental in the development of modern music. His obdurate approach to musical composition and lack of care to conform took him to deep poverty. But later in life, he enjoyed the company of a new breed of artists - Braque, Picasso, Nijinsky, Diaghilev and Cocteau - and the admiration of many including Stravinsky and Debussy.

His influence perseveres through pop music also with artists like Gary Numan & Japan displaying close affinity.

One day, whilst surfing Spotify, Thomas Lemmer's ambient versions of Gymnopedies popped up in my stream - and the inspiration to create versions of all seven Gnossiennes began.

I hope that if Erik Satie had been around today he would have enjoyed these versions of his work. But then again, having read much about him - it's equally possible he would have deeply disapproved!

Anyway, my hope is that it introduces a new audience to his exemplary work.
